Burnie

A small Tasmanian story about courage, leatherwood honey, and the long try.

Status Manuscript v1.1 Illustration In progress Release 2028

Burnie is a bumble bee who can't quite fly yet — and the quiet bush friends who help him work it out, one wobble at a time.

Set in the leatherwood forests of lutruwita / Tasmania, this is a story about the long try: the courage it takes to keep starting again, and the gentle company of those who wait while you find your wings.

A small story, made slowly. Like everything from this press.

More to share later in the year.

Burnie is taking shape on the table — manuscript settled, illustrations underway. Progress notes, character sketches, and the first peek at the bush around him will land in The Currawong Letter as the year unfolds.
